I am keen to study the MSc Medical Ultrasound programme to develop my skills and work towards advanced and consultant-level practice. As a healthcare professional, the area has drawn my interest and I believe the study will enhance my competences to further level with newer domain of knowledge and skills.

From the study, I aim to develop my understanding of the relevant ultrasound principles including current applications of ultrasound and imaging modalities in obstetrics and gynaecology; the underlying scientific principles, safety, and equipment design; legal aspects of clinical care; latest management issues in ultrasound practice. I intend to develop as a sonographer with sound and comprehensive knowledge by integrating academic and clinical education. I also wish to equip myself with enhancement of my cognitive skills, cognitive skills, communication skills and soft skills – I target to develop my analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills markedly so that I can provide high quality services to my patients and develop as a successful medical professional. I also wish to use these skills for further research in the field, cultivate and contribute towards the benefits of medical industry.

Due to my interests in medical science, after completion of my MBBS qualification, I undertook few other qualifications to strengthen and broaden my knowledge in related branches of medical science. In the quest of my knowledge and skill search I continuously and relentlessly attained few important qualifications including MSc in Public Health under Atish Dipankar University of Science & Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh and an MBA from the same university to develop my management skills and business acumen that I plan to implement in medical profession as and when necessary. I also accomplished a Diploma in Medical Ultrasonography under The University of Newcastle, Portland, Oregon, USA – this study has driven my interests for further higher level qualifications in the area and the MSc in Medical Ultrasound could see the fulfilment of my targets. I can obviously relate and complement the knowledge of the diploma to enrich my MSc study and make it more interesting and effective.

My internship areas were in Internal Medicine including Paediatrics & Dermatology, General Surgery including Orthopaedics & Urology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology – during this period I have gained practical hands on training Z H Sikder Women’s Medical College & Hospital (Pvt) Ltd, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I wish to transfer this knowledge and skills towards this MSc study and build on higher level knowledge and skills to prepare myself as a complete and competent professional in the area of medical ultrasound. My training as a Color Doppler under Institute of Ultrasound Training was also targeted towards my future goals which I am now keen to pursue.

I am registered medical & Dental Practitioner in Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council, I participated in ‘Infection Control and Prevention Programme in Bangladesh’ jointly organised by the Bangladesh Medical Association of North America & Ibrahim Medical College, ‘Occupational Safety and Health’ organised by National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), a WHO Collaboration Centre in Bangladesh; Seminar on ‘Birds Flu- Bangladesh Perspective’ organised by University of Newcastle (USA) affiliated centre Bangladesh. These accomplishments have enabled me gaining multi-faceted skills and to explore different areas of medical science. My work experience as a House Surgeon in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital has facilitated me to cultivate and practice my knowledge with wider exposure and develop as a professional.

King’s College is one of the pioneer providers of this course. At King’s, the course is accredited by the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE). Here the course is delivered at the heart of London in diverse educational environment. The School of  Medicine is resourceful with two ultrasound machines which are used in the teaching – the faculty is highly experienced and often invite expert outside speakers who bring extensive knowledge to contribute in the learning and the learning is supplemented by maximum contact time with tutors and e-learning facilities. I believe, it would be a life changing educational experience at King’s College for this MSc programme.
