Modern business is a dynamic environment in which customer wants and needs constantly change at an ever-faster pace. New products and services are launched into already crowded markets on a regular basis. Such an environment can be challenging. A Bachelor Degree in Business and Marketing qualification can prepare me for the rigours of modern business life, enabling me to exploit the exciting opportunities available. I have found the BA (Hons) Business and Marketing programme of the Anglia Ruskin University offered at its London campus quite rewarding to match my academic pursuits and career vision.
I believe, the course will enable me to acquire transferable business skills and general business knowledge that will be useful in all aspects of business, whether in the public or private sector. It will provide me with a comprehensive understanding of the core concepts, practices and techniques of conducting business across national borders with a focus on marketing-related activities. In addition to business acumen, I will have the opportunity to learn broad approach to markets, marketing and marketing management, developing my knowledge and skills in ways that enable me to think strategically about the growth of your organisation and develop effective marketing practices that make and shape the markets in which I want to have impact. The course, in fact, is designed to provide with the opportunity to systematically and progressively acquire knowledge and understanding of the Marketing discipline for business and organisations.
As my learning target, I aim to, in particular, develop Business Skills, extend my ability to work numbers and words in a management context as well as develop teamwork and personal development skills; equip myself with the relevant knowledge and management skills necessary to effectively and efficiently develop strategies for the delivery of high quality services and/or goods in complex and dynamic environments; acquire an understanding of theory and practice for executing, implementing, and managing corporate and business strategy in organisations; develop an understanding and critical awareness of people resourcing and performance management; be able to analyse the forces underpinning consumer behaviour, exploring the meanings that products, brands and possessions have in consumers' everyday lives; undertake the collection, analysis and presentation of market research data and explore the commissioning, interpretation and strategic use of market research; explore the fundamental concepts, theories, techniques and challenges involved in managing the organisation's integrated marketing communications mix; learn to analyse the strategic role of marketing within the organisation and explore the development and management of brands.
From the course, I wish to engage myself in an academically challenging and stimulating educational experience. On completion, I will have acquired and developed an understanding of a complex body of knowledge, in addition to analytical techniques and problem-solving skills that can be applied in diverse employment situations.
I have studied Mathematics, Science and Technology, Business & Accounting Studies, Economics subjects in my ordinary and advanced levels. I have gained practical work experience as a Sales Executive from “Diesel & Motor Engineering Plc”, a reputed company in Sri Lanka. Both my academic studies and work knowledge will complement my chosen programme of BSc. I will be able to transfer my knowledge to this study and develop it to greater level. Most crucially, my academic learning will be enhanced to earn me progressions of knowledge, skills and future careers.
While talking about careers, post-qualification, I will be well prepared for business, marketing and management positions in a range of organisations and industries. In 5-10 years’ time, I intend to see myself as a successful manager of business or brand development in international prestigious company.
I have chosen the Anglia Ruskin University programme because this course will help me to tackle real life business problems that closely reflect true-to-life issues and scenarios, giving me a real entrepreneurial edge. I will benefit from excellent teaching and learning support; gain the knowledge and the skills that industry want; be part of an institution that is innovative and relevant. The London campus will allow me to live and study in an outstanding location – London, the business capital of Europe.
