Course Overview

As the world economy becomes increasingly global, with world trade expanding and the continued industrialisation of the emerging markets of China, India and Russia, there is a growing demand for graduates who can work at an international level.

Academic entry requirements

• passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Level;

• a pass in one subject at GCE Advanced Level plus (a) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level, or (b) a Vocational A-Level Single Award, or (c) two Vocational A-Level part Awards;

• a Vocational A-Level Double Award; or

• a Vocational A-Level Single Award plus (a) two Vocational A-Level part Awards, or (b) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level; or

• a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma; or

• a Scottish Certificate of Education with (a) passes in five subjects, including at least three at Higher grade, or (b) passes in four subjects all at Higher grade or New Higher grade; or

• the full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate; or

• an Irish Leaving Certificate with passes in four subjects at Grade C at the Higher level.

English entry requirements

Students for whom English is not the first language must satisfy the University requirement for IELTS currently at 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any band. Applications without this level of English qualification may enrol in the summer pre-sessional English course to obtain an equivalent qualification.

Assessment methods

Combination of examination, coursework and a supervised independent business research project.

Progression route

Further academic study of masters degree in business, management, MBA or Professional career.

Main learning outcomes

In your first year, you'll gain a firm foundation in modern business principles. Taught by our expert team of staff, recent modules we have offered recently have included Business Skills, People and Organisations, Marketing and Enterprise and Business Economics. We also offer a range of foreign languages, which might include French, Spanish, Arabic or Mandarin.

In your second year you'll continue to enhance your knowledge and skills, but you'll also get to focus on areas that interest you. Examples may include International Business Environment, Managing Organisations, The European Economy, Marketing Management, and Entrepreneurship. If you are a UK student, you'll spend a semester overseas in a partner institution studying business to an equivalent level to Roehampton-based students. If you are an international student, you'll typically stay at Roehampton and select modules from our wide variety of options.

In your final year, you'll study at an advanced level, building on the international experience developed during your second year. You'll continue to extend and deepen your business knowledge and practice and will develop an international research project.
