Formerly known as the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport, the University of South Wales is a thriving, modern University with a reputation for excellent learning and teaching, a growing recognition for international research excellence, first class facilities, professional recognition and outstanding student support. Both of these universities had a rich and varied history, and can each trace their roots back more than 100 years prior to merger in 2013.

The University of South Wales is now one of the largest universities in the UK with over 33,000 students, offering students even more opportunities and even better prospects. Whether our students are studying a foundation course, Bachelors degree, Masters degree or undertaking doctoral level research, they enjoy the benefits of our distinctive, innovative and rigorous academic courses, our excellent facilities as well as our growing reputation as a major international university for careers and graduate employability.

The University offers a distinctive portfolio courses at all academic levels including foundation courses, undergraduate degrees, Masters programmes and research degrees. With three campuses situated in and around Cardiff, Wales’ beautiful and bustling capital city, students can study for a degree in a wide variety of fields including law, accounting and finance, engineering, business and nursing, as well as having the option to improve their academic English with pre-sessional programmes prior to the start of the academic intakes.

The University’s state of the art facilities have recently benefited from a £130m investment programme including brand new halls of residence, a hydrogen research facility, a simulated hospital ward, an award-winning students’ union, new science laboratories, a purpose-built sport park and an Aerospace Centre.
