Donald Trump has started his second US presidency by signing several executive orders, showing a stricter approach to immigration.

This week, Donald Trump began his presidency by signing several executive orders, including one that could ban people from certain, yet unnamed, countries from entering the US. The order aims to protect the US from foreign terrorism and security threats by identifying countries with weak vetting systems and potentially suspending travel from those nations.
The order states, “It is the policy of the United States to protect its citizens from individuals who intend to commit terrorist acts, threaten national security, or misuse immigration laws for harmful purposes.”
On the same day, Trump signed another executive order ending "birthright citizenship," which previously granted citizenship to all children born in the US. The new rule, effective February 19, excludes children born to non-citizens or temporary visitors, such as those on study visas, from automatic citizenship. This applies even if one parent is not a US citizen or permanent resident.
The announcement has raised significant concerns among international communities. Indian-American politicians, including Michigan Congressman Shri Thanedar, have promised to oppose the change. “Birthright citizenship is the law of the land, and I will fight to protect it at all costs,” he stated.
The legislation also faces legal challenges from 18 states, including California, Massachusetts, Washington, and New York, which are suing to block it from becoming law.
