How Bangladeshi students can apply for admission at UK Universities

Find out how to apply to a UK University for admission, what documents you require with your application.

A common question most of the Bangladeshi students ask is how to apply for admission at UK Universities and what documents to submit & which information to provide.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q Can I study in the UK without IELTS from Bangladesh?

A UK is a majority English speaking country. The medium of instruction for tuition, exam assessment s in the UK is English. Therefore, you need to have required levels of proficiency in English. Otherwise, you will not be able to understand lectures, follow instructions, interact with peers and lecturers and pass examinations.

IELTS is a UKVI approved SELT (Secure English Language Test) to prove your English language abilities in reading, writing, speaking and listening. But it is not mandatory to have IELTS to prove your English language abilities, you can sit other UKVI approved SELTs too including:

  • Pearson: ‘PTE Academic UKVI’
  • PSI Services: ‘Skills for English UKVI’
  • LanguageCert: ‘LanguageCert International ESOL SELT’

If you are coming to study at a Higher Education Provider (HEP) with track record of compliance status to study Bachelors or above level degree course, then they may not require IELTS or any other SELTS as they have the authority to assess your English language abilities through other English tests or documents including:

  • ELLT (OI Digital Institute)
  • Duolingo English Test
  • Password English Language Test
  • KITE (Kaplan International Tools for English) Test
  • TOEFL iBT Test
  • HEP’s own internal English Test
  • Medium of Instruction (MOI) as English letter

Please check with the HEP to find out if they have this provision known as HEP assessment.

However, if you are applying for stand-alone bachelor or master’s foundation courses or degree course with pre-sessional English, then you must have one of the UKVI SELTs.
