Course Structure

The LLM professional Legal Studies with Business programme provides an integrated academic and professional training environment. The course has been conceived and structured to enable students in gaining the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in a legal role.

The course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding in the principles of legal skills and business of law, while offering a practical context and relevance to these legal principles.

It will develop your ability to apply relevant legal knowledge to realistic, client-based scenarios, before building your skills in communicating legal analysis and arguments clearly and succinctly. It will also build your professional skills through the study of law from a contextual and practical perspective.

Students who wish to take the 18 month route will also complete the Professional Development Planning Programme (PDP) module. Embedded in the 18-month option, the PDP programme can contribute to your success at finding jobs and post-study work visa opportunities. It provides a structured approach to professional development, helping you gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to sustain a career in your chosen field. You will receive additional sessions which run alongside academic terms to prepare for the six months of career practice which may include projects, voluntary work, placement or internship opportunities.
