Earnings from working in the UK on student visa

Students will have the right to work while continuing their studies in the UK i.e. 10 hours per week if they are studying foundation course, 20 hours per week studying a bachelor, masters or PhD course. Students will be able to work full time per week during holiday period in between your course.

Q What are the UK undergraduate course entry requirements for Turkish students?

A Applicants with the following quali?cations will be considered for entry on a year 1 undergraduate/Bachelor's degree:

  • A grade of more than 4/5 or 70% in your Devlet Lise Diplomasi (State High School Diploma) or Lisa Bitirme Diplomasi (Private High School Finishing Diploma)
  • British/International A Levels (from a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
  • IB Diploma (from a minimum 25 points depending on course)
  • A recognised foundation course from a UK institution or a Turkish institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%

If you have achieved less than 4/5 or 70% in your Devlet Lise Diplomasi (State High School Diploma) or Lisa Bitirme Diplomasi (Private High School Finishing Diploma), you'll usually need to do a foundation year before doing an undergraduate/Bachelor's course.

Q What are the UK postgraduate course entry requirements for Chinese students?

A Applicants with the following quali?cations will be considered for entry on a postgraduate course:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a GPA 2.6/4.0 or an overall average of 65% or higher
  • Honours degree from any university in the UK or Republic of Ireland with a minimum of 2:2 or above
  • A recognised UK-based or China-based Pre-Master's qualification
  • To study a PhD: a research proposal is required in addition to a Masters qualification in a related subject area

A Yes, you can apply for undergraduate courses without UCAS, many UK universities accept direct applications via online application portal for undergraduate courses. You do not need to apply for postgraduate courses via UCAS.

Q Do UK universities charge any application fee for admission?

A Most of the UK universities do not charge any application fee. However, there are a few universities that charge a non-refundable admission application fee; you will need to pay it at the time of application submission.

Q Can I submit my documents for UK University admission if those are not in English?

A No, documents that are not in English will not be accepted by UK universities. If any of your document is not in English, you will need those to be translated in English by official translator confirming accurate translation of the original document, the date of the translation, the translator's full name and signature, contact details. You must submit copies of both documents, original and the translated one.

Q How to apply for UK student visa? Where are the UK visa application centres in Turkey?

A You will need to apply for UK student visa online via gov.uk website 'Apply outside the UK' link. You will be asked to pay the student visa application fee and IHS fee during this.

Once you submit your visa application online, you will then be asked to book an appointment with TLScontact by creating a TLScontact account. You can then book an appointment from the available dates and times at your chosen UK visa application centre in Turkey.
