Based on the most recent data from Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE), the number of Taiwanese students studying overseas rose by 20% between 2011 and 2017 (from about 32,000 in 2011 to over 40,000 in 2017). The number of students studying in China has also increased quickly; in 2017, there were 2,567 registered students, almost twice as many as there were in 2011.
With 3,685 Taiwanese students enrolling at UK institutions in the 2021/22 academic year, the UK is now the fourth most popular destination for Taiwanese students, after the US, Australia, and Japan, according to the Taipei Representative Office in the UK.

The second consecutive year of development, Taiwan had a very promising year with a rise of 7.5%, according to the Q3 2018 UKVI data on tier 4 (T4) student visas. By the deadline in January 2019, Taiwan had submitted 410 UCAS applications, an increase of 11% over the same period the previous year (when only 370 applications were submitted). Taiwanese applicants to undergraduate programs in the UK have increased dramatically over the years, from 240 in June 2009 to 460 in June 2018 (+92%).
Parents, professors, and students have expressed worry over the new admission procedure for Taiwanese universities, which has created confusion in recent times. This might indicate that more parents would think about taking their kids overseas to study this year. We anticipate seeing an increase in Taiwanese applicants by the end of June UCAS deadline.
