I have chosen to pursue the BA (Hons) Business Management degree course under the University of Sunderland London because this course has been developed not only to reflect the increasing international dimension of business and management, but also to provide a range of opportunities and experiences that will help develop my the intercultural skills necessary to operate effectively across national and cultural boundaries. The study would give me a true insight into the fast-moving world of concurrent business within public, private or third sector.

I believe the study of the degree programme will equip me with the broad business and management background and the analytical, technical and interpersonal skills required to understand, analyse and address issues faced by today's companies. I will be able to develop decision-making and problem-solving skills, expand and build on my knowledge of management applications in business and develop a range of transferrable skills for prospective careers, including effective communication and interpersonal skills.

The study of Strategic Management Accounting, Strategic Management of Human Resources, Marketing Strategy, Managing Projects, Strategic Management, Contemporary Developments in Business Management would prepare with main functional areas of business and management and would allow me to accomplish all-round competency in these areas.

In fact, this degree is designed to give a range of transferable and practical skills to help students succeed within chosen career. In addition to academic knowledge, the study would help me acquiring cognitive skills, negotiation ability, leadership competency and developing positive and critical attitude to change and enterprise so as to reflect the dynamism and vibrancy of the ever changing business environment.

The course will enhance and develop my current academic knowledge and skills to advanced level and reward me with progressions to higher level since I will be a graduate under the UK University on completion.

In my recently completed Diploma in Accounting and Business under ACCA, I have studied Management Accounting subject – this will complement the BA Business Management final year Strategic Management Accounting module. I had earlier studied economics, accounting, management in my BBS Degree under National University, Bangladesh. I have also completed a Higher National Diploma in Business under Edexcel from the UK and studied Human Resource Management & Development, Marketing Principles & Planning, along with other subjects - while the other subjects have entitled me to earn exemptions from the first year and second year of this BA, these modules have close relations with this BA’s final year subjects. Due to this similarity, all my previous and current study area would complement the BA study closely and I will have clear concepts of the learning and be able to perform well in the assessments.

On completion of the degree, I expect to have a firm grasp of business management disciplines that should place me in a good position to pursue a career in business, marketing and sales, financial services, consulting, media and human resources, especially in companies or organisations that operate in, or do business with Bangladesh.  I would also have the opportunity to follow a master qualification in the same or similar discipline to acquire more advanced level knowledge and skills.

I am grateful that the University of Sunderland has its campus in London which will add extra value to my learning from within the great city.
