I want to study nursing because I believe it will be the start of a long and successful career in working in the medical field. My goal is to work in operating theatres. I want to develop a set of skills which will stay with me for the rest of my life and kick start a career doing something I love.

In fact, I would like to study nursing because I feel it will lead me directly to one of the most emotionally fulfilling careers available, as well as giving me the chance combine helping people's mental well being with their physical health.

My desire to do this course is because I have always shown a growing interest into nursing as it strikes me as a worthwhile and satisfying career to choose. I am a confident student willing to provide the university with good communication skills, supporting others, and being able to interact closely with them.

With the view in mind, I have studied science in my 10 class and 12 class. Following that, I came to the UK for a Level 3 National Certificate for Dental Nurses programme under NEBDN awarding body at South London College and completed that successfully and gained foundation level knowledge in the relevant field of nursing. I have completed 15 portfolio including: Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety, Reflect on and develop your practice, Emergency First Aid Skills, Prepare and maintain environment, instruments, and equipment for clinical dental procedures, Offer information and support to individuals on the protection of their oral health, Provide chairside support during the assessment of patients’ oral health, Contribute to the production of dental images, Provide chairside support during the prevention and control of periodontal disease and caries and the restoration of cavities, Provide chairside support during the provision of fixed and removable prostheses, Provide chair side support during non-surgical endodontic treatment, Provide chairside support during the extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery, Principles of infection control in the dental, Assessment of oral heal the and treatment planning, Dental radiography, Scientific principles in the management of oral health diseases and dental procedures – these has given me specialised knowledge and skills in one of the important sections of nursing. This knowledge is relevant to the BSc Nursing course and will complement it significantly. Most importantly, my knowledge will be enhanced enormously with the BSc programme since it will provide me with higher level knowledge and skills to become a complete nurse. I will be progressing towards greater achievement.

To give my level 3 qualification a sharp practical edge, I have completed a CPD through work placement in Pro Medics Training Solutions, UK. I can transfer the practical knowledge and skills I achieved there towards my chosen programme at the University of Bedfordshire for better performance and make my study more interesting and enjoying.

Since I am an overseas student and my first visa was due to finish in November 2011 and my Certificate in Dental Nursing course was issued late, I could not take admission for higher level of Nursing programme while I extended my visa since there was no session available and without the certificate I could not fulfil entry requirements for BSc programme. I had to extend my visa for a level 5 course (Diploma in Business Studies – ICM). This course has obviously has some relevancy to the nursing profession in terms of running a nursing agency/clinic/private hospital/care home. From the course I have gathered business acumen and etiquette along with broader social communication skills and norms. This will definitely help me in my profession as a nurse.

Since my true passion lies in the nursing qualification and career as a qualified nurse, I would like to take the opportunity to study the BSc programme at the highly esteemed University of Bedfordshire that has long reputation in teaching the programme. I have researched a lot, taken consultancy from lot of education counsellors and finally with the help and advice of Total Student Care (TSC) found the University and the course I have been pursuing for all my life. My joys will know no bound if I get the chance to get trained by the Beds. Because I know that the BSc Nursing course will enable me to take my nurse education to the next level.

From the course I expect to learn how to apply appropriate theory, practice and professional standards to solving professional problems and issues & gain a critical understanding of social, economic, technological and ethical influences on health and to hone research skills in exploring evidence to evaluate the care needs of patients. I hope to gain a better understanding of current public health topics and be able to argue moral positions for and against such issues as fertility treatments, surrogacy and abortion. With this nursing course I will learn to show a commitment to continuing professional development in nursing and boost my satisfaction levels and career prospects at the same time.

I like, in fact, I love the nursing profession because it is one of the most respected occupations in the world. Everyone has some sort of interaction with a nurse in their lifetime and it usually is a welcomed experience. Nurses specialize in different fields within the medical profession and play a prominent and vital role in the future of our healthcare industry. Nursing protects, promotes and optimizes a healthy lifestyle. Nurses help alleviate pain and suffering through medical technology and clinical techniques. I want to engage myself in all these, I want to be involved, I want to reach people, people who need help and to me this is the profession that can fulfil my career vision. I am sure, from the profession I can earn respect and love and not to mention decent earnings to lead a well respected life.
