I am keen to follow the MSc International Business Programme at University of Ulster London to fulfil my academic vision of gaining the ultimate contemporary knowledge and skills in the area and to achieve my career goal and its subsequent development in international arena.

Earlier I had studied an MBA via BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies (APDMS).  I was awarded 60 APL credits for the APDMS by New Bucks University towards their MBA, and I topped that credits with further 120 credits to make it 180 and achieve the full degree – MBA.

The APDMS programme assessment was course-work based, there was no exam involved. In this study and hence my capabilities were not truly tested and challenged – I always felt knowledge gap in the learning. Even in my Top up MBA, I had to do only 3 modules including Management Science and Systems, Market and Strategy, International Management and Change along with the dissertation. And again, my pursuance for detailed and profound knowledge and skills in the area of business, finance, marketing, HRM and other important functional areas remained unfulfilled.

Additionally, I have realised now that so far these studies are concerned, I have gained knowledge in general management only and this are common knowledge that most of the typical management students possess. But I have been always striving for distinctive competency and skills from my early student life, I always aim higher, I intend to go extra mile, I want to stand out from the crowd. After thorough and careful research, I am convinced that this MSc qualification can give the academic and professional edge that I am searching for.

The modules of the MSc – International Business Environment, International Management, International Marketing, E-Business, Business Research Methods, International Entrepreneurship, Global Policy and Strategy, International Leadership and HRM in a Global Context are top picks of concurrent business and organisations. With my current knowledge in general management from the MBA, study of this this MSc would build a knowledge empire from the zenith of where I will be able to explore the global business world with authority and command.  While the learning from the MBA would complement the MSc syllabus to certain context due to similarities of learning outcomes, this MSc would help me gain academic progressions since I will gain advanced level of knowledge and skills in newer but essential domains of business.

From this MSc, I will be able to enhance my knowledge and skills  in the major business functions and their role in international business and commerce, develop an appreciation of the special requirements for successfully conducting international business activities across national boundaries, develop knowledge and understanding of relevant theories and be able to apply them in business case studies.

My professional skills will be further enhanced since the focus of the programme throughout is international: it provides valuable perspectives on the major industrialised and industrialising economies, as well as developing countries. The MSc provides in-depth coverage of the globalisation process, the international business environment and the operation of international business. In particular, I aim to gain the insight of theory, policies and practices in the broad field of global business, the process of globalisation and the implications of globalisation for business firms and their managers, understand how and why the world's economies differ, be able to review of the economies and policies of global trade and investment, examine different strategies that business can adopt to complete in the global marketplace and enter specific foreign markets.

I also aim to boost my personal development by acquire skills in areas including giving presentations, team working, report writing, negotiation, IT skills. I target to equip myself with a mix of analytical and problem-solving business-related skills with a very strong emphasis on relevant international challenges and issues. I strive to learn innovation processes, innovation-based strategies and creating competitive advantage through innovation, multi-cultural teamwork and presentation skills developed through group-work.

I am sure the above attainments and accomplishments from the MSc study will undoubtedly help me gain a competitive edge and drive my career forward, and may also assist a career change, achieve a salary increase, improve promotion prospects or simply broaden horizons and increase marketability in a wide range of multinational businesses, financial institutions, central banks, government departments, international institutions and universities around the world.

The London campus of the university is a purpose-built suite which is accessible exclusively to Masters Students with free Wi-Fi connection, modern lecture/tutorial rooms, computer labs, lounge area, IT equipment and packages and use of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) – the learning resources along with the world class faculty have made this institution a true learning environment and it reflects my aspirations. I would be highly glad to be student member of this university.
